# Agents

The Agents page lists every agent on your team. Each agent is shown as a card.

## What each card shows

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The agent's display name |
| Avatar | The initials or image set on the agent |
| Status | Active or Inactive |
| Personality | The name of the assigned personality |
| Sessions | Total number of conversations started |

## Actions

Click a card to open the agent and edit its settings, knowledge, personality, and skills.

From the card menu (three-dot icon) you can:

- **Duplicate** — creates a copy of the agent with the same settings, knowledge sources, and personality assignment. The copy starts as Inactive.
- **Delete** — permanently removes the agent. This cannot be undone.

## Creating a new agent

Click **New Agent** to open the setup wizard. See [Your first agent](/docs/ask/first-agent) for a full walkthrough.

## Active vs Inactive

The status toggle on each card controls whether the agent responds to visitors.

| Status | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| **Active** | The agent accepts incoming messages and responds in real time |
| **Inactive** | The agent is inaccessible to visitors — widget shows as offline or hidden depending on your embed settings |

Setting an agent to Active has one requirement: the agent must have a published personality assigned. An agent with no personality, or one whose personality is still in draft, cannot go active. The toggle will show an error if this requirement is not met.

## Activation requirements

Before you can activate an agent, check:

1. A personality has been created and assigned to the agent
2. That personality has at least one published version
3. The published version has passed at least one test scenario (the platform enforces this as a publish gate — see [Testing](/docs/ask/testing))

If all three are in place, the toggle will activate successfully.
