User Memory
Agents can remember facts about individual visitors across sessions — their preferred appointment time, the product category they browse most, their name. Turn it on with a single toggle and the agent decides what is worth remembering.
When to use it
Enable memory when your agent benefits from continuity:
- Concierge / support — "You mentioned last week you were on the Pro plan — is that still right?"
- Booking flows — remember preferred appointment times or meeting length
- Ecommerce — recall favourite categories, size preferences, past order references
Skip it for one-shot triage agents where every conversation is fresh.
Enabling memory
Go to the agent's Settings tab, find the Memory section, and toggle on Enable user memory.
How it works
Once enabled, the agent can silently store and retrieve facts about the current visitor across sessions. It references what it has previously stored naturally in conversation, and decides on its own when something is worth remembering or forgetting. These actions happen in the background — the visitor never sees them.
Who is "the visitor"
Memory is tied to the visitor's browser. The same visitor returning to the same page is recognised and their memories are available. A visitor on a different device, or after clearing their browser data, is treated as a new person.
Visitors who have opted out of browser fingerprinting get a fresh conversation every time — memory is skipped entirely for them, both reading and writing.
What the agent won't remember
The agent is conservative by design. It will not store:
- Passwords, card numbers, or any credentials
- Sensitive personal data — health, financial, or legal information
- Anything the visitor explicitly asks it not to remember
Reviewing and clearing memories
Open Conversations, select a session, and look for the Memories panel. From there you can delete individual stored facts or clear all memory for that visitor — useful for GDPR erasure requests.
Turning it off
Disabling the toggle stops the agent from reading or writing memory going forward. Existing stored memories are not deleted immediately — contact support if you need all memory for an agent wiped immediately.
